Body of Christ

I want to testify that the experience of the oneness of the Body of Christ is real in the local churches (Ephesians 4:3-4). When I attended the first church meeting in my locality, I was deeply impressed by how people in different races, with different cultures can get together, yet act as one in their worship of God. I knew I would love to know more about this group of people and started to participate in some of the meetings. In the meeting, I was encouraged to share my thought, feeling, and experience. Each member of the body can function, speak of and for the Lord, just like each part of our physical body functions (Romans 12:4-5). No wonder they would speak the same thing regarding Christ, living out the same life of God, because the body is under only one Head, the unique God (Ephesians 1:22-23).

Last year, I went for a backpacking trip to the United Kingdom I had my itinerary well planned. Before I went, a believer in my locality gave me a phone number of the local church in London. By the Lord's mercy, I called, mostly out of curiosity, after I settled down in a hostel in London. I would never imagine how a simple phone call would totally change my itinerary. I was invited to the Lord's Day meeting. Singing the same songs, speaking the same matter regarding Christ, I was so amazed that I felt as if I was having a meeting at home, even though I knew nobody in the meeting. The believers in London welcomed me, taking me to their homes for dinner, and we had many sweet fellowships in which we shared our enjoyment and experience of the Lord. Knowing that I was going to travel throughout the U.K, they showed me how to contact local churches in different places. Because of that, my trip turned out to be visiting in many cities, instead of just sightseeing. Still, the believers in the local churches I visited were no different in those places. How this could be possible was beyond my natural understanding, except for attributing it to the real experience of the oneness of the body of Christ. Praise the Lord!
